Shame on the Imams and Islamic Scholars!

Confound not truth with falsehood, nor knowingly conceal the truth. (Koran 2:42, Pickthall)

I have watched numerous videos on the internet about Islam. One of the things that many of the imams and other religious leaders have been saying is that there is only one version of the Koran. They say that the Bible has been corrupted and cannot be entirely trusted, but they cite passages from it saying that those passages are prophecies about Muhammad. What many Muslims do not know is that there is more than one version of the Koran.

Most intelligent Christians know that there are textual variants among the manuscripts of the New Testament. For example, John 1:18 in the New American Standard Bible says:

No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him. (John 1:18, NASB)

There is a footnote for the second word, God, in this verse. In the margin of this translation it says: “Some later mss. read Son.” So, this verse would read this way in the later manuscripts:

No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten Son who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him. (John 1:18, NASB)

Another example is Colossians 3:6. In the New American Standard Bible, it says:

For it is because of these things that the wrath of God will come. (Colossians 3:6, NASB)

In the margin of this translation, it says: “Some early mss. add, upon the sons of disobedience.

There are many textual variants in the Bible. However, despite the existence of such variants, no major Christian doctrine is affected by them. Using any of the Greek manuscripts of the New Testament, it is still possible to prove from them the doctrine of the Trinity, the Deity of Jesus Christ, the existence of two natures in Jesus Christ – a human and a divine, the Deity of the Holy Spirit, the existence of two wills in Jesus Christ – a human and a divine, etc. All of the basic Christian dogmas can still be proven using any of these manuscripts.

I recently saw some videos on the internet showing that there are at least 26 different versions of the Koran. Here are the videos.

It is a shame that Muslim imams and religious leaders would lie to their fellow Muslims and tell them that the Koran that they possess is the one that Muhammad recited to his followers in the seventh century. It is a shame that these religious leaders would lie to people who are investigating their religion and tell them that there is only one Koran and there are no textual variants in the Koran like there are in the Bible.

Many of the Muslim religious leaders do not like St. Paul and his writings. Such a shame! They could really learn from him.

Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices. (Colossians 3:9, NASB)

Did those imams and Islamic scholars ever “lay aside their old self with its evil practices?” Apparently not!
